SNAP Updates

Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for November 2025 may be delayed or disrupted. While October benefits have been fully issued, future funding is not guaranteed. DSS is closely monitoring developments and is in regular contact with federal partners

WIC Updates

South Dakota WIC helps families be strong, healthy, and happy by providing health promoting food benefits, support services, and referrals. South Dakota WIC supports those who:

  • care for a baby or child younger than 5 years of age
  • are pregnant now or had a baby in the past six months
  • are breastfeeding a baby under 1 year of age

It’s free for all South Dakota families who qualify. Mothers, fathers, legal guardians, and foster parents can all sign up for WIC.
