Summer BackPack Program continues in Sioux Falls….

Feeding South Dakota announced today that starting this Friday, July 16th they will begin a Summer BackPack Program. With grant funding being provided by the Sioux Empire United Way the weekend hunger gap for many of our cities at-risk children will be will be filled with backpacks of food. There are no qualifications for the children to receive a backpack, but they must be present to receive one. With the help of the United Way of the Black Hills, Feeding South Dakota's BackPack Program will continue into the summer months in Rapid City.

Rapid City Journal: Day of Excellence Organizers Commit to $40,000 in Donations

The Leadership Rapid City Class of 2009 will be able to donate $4,000 to each of 10 local charities now that nearly 1,000 people have registered for the class' project, the Day of Excellence professional development conference. One of those charities receiving a $4,000 donation is the Rapid City Food Bank BackPack Program.

Argus Leader: Mouth To Stomach - A Hunger Pledge

Needy families in central South Dakota are getting a boost from an organization that specializes in teeth but also is worried about their stomachs.

Delta Dental of South Dakota has pledged $300,000 of the $650,000 needed for Feeding South Dakota to establish a food bank site in Pierre.

KOTA News - A New Identity for South Dakota Food Banks

Leaders of the Community Food Banks of South Dakota want there to be no doubt in anyone's mind about what they're here to do: feed South Dakota.

That's why they changed the food bank's name to "Feeding South Dakota."
