[SIOUX FALLS, SD] – [APRIL 21, 2011] – A statewide organization, Feeding South Dakota is one of 500 finalists in Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program, which will award vehicles to 100 nonprofit organizations based on votes from the public beginning May 9, 2011.

Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program will showcase five non-profit organizations each day for 100 days on Toyota’s Facebook page,facebook.com/toyota. Visitors to the page can vote once a day for the organization that they feel is most deserving of a new Toyota vehicle.  Feeding South Dakota will be one of the five organizations highlighted for voting on Tuesday, June 28, 2011.

Local residents are encouraged to support Feeding South Dakota and their quest for a new Toyota Highlander Hybrid. If Feeding South Dakota receives the most votes and is awarded the vehicle, it will be used for monitoring and providing agency capacity building information to the organizations we serve and to seek food procurement opportunities from manufacturers, producers, wholesalers and retailers all across the state.

About Feeding South Dakota

Feeding South Dakota, formerly known as the Community Food Banks of South Dakota, is the state’s largest charitable hunger relief organization with a mission to eliminate hunger in our state. We secure and distribute donations of quality nutritious food, along with other surplus and purchased foods to over 500 charitable organizations across the state. These organizations then provide this food to individuals who are “food insecure” through on site feeding programs, emergency food pantries, after school programs and mass distribution programs.
