A new name, logo, and website are renewing one organization's commitment to fighting hunger. The former Community Food Banks of South Dakota will now be known as Feeding South Dakota . Each year the organization serves more than 100,000 people through their various food banks, food pantries and BackPack Program. So folks are hoping the new name will better reflect the organization's fight to end hunger in the state.
"We have a renewed commitment to feeding South Dakota. To positioning food product programs in all areas of the state, so that everyone has access to food," said Kay Torney, Feeding South Dakota.
Feeding South Dakota is also expanding their reach across the state this Friday with a new Food Bank Warehouse opening up in Pierre. Officials say they are excited that the new food bank will help make food programs more accessible for rural communities and Indian Reservations.
