Argus Leader: Food Bank Changes Name

Community Food Banks of South Dakota has changed its name but not its mission.

The hunger relief organization that serves more than 100,000 individuals each year across the state now will be called Feeding South Dakota.

KDLT News - “Feeding South Dakota”: New Name & New Logo

A new name, logo, and website are renewing one organization's commitment to fighting hunger. The former Community Food Banks of South Dakota will now be known as Feeding South Dakota . Each year the organization serves more than 100,000 people through their various food banks, food pantries and BackPack Program. So folks are hoping the new name will better reflect the organization's fight to end hunger in the state.

Pierre Food Bank Named for Charles H. Burke

PIERRE -- The building that houses the Pierre Food Bank will no longer be known as the old Pepsi building.

Pancake feed raises $1,340 for food bank

PIERRE — Prior to the food bank task force’s first fundraiser, members were hoping for exposure at the most. But after all the pancakes, sausage and coffee were put away Saturday at St. Joseph’s school, the task force had exposure and $1,340 to put away toward a food bank building. “It’s an awesome cause,” said Peggy Laurenz, who attended the pancake feed. “It’s something we really need in central South Dakota.”

Food Bank Shelves Dwindling

Putting the food on the table every night is becoming more difficult for more families.

The Sioux Falls Food Pantry provides help to more than 20,000 people every year, but that number's increased by 70 percent over the past 18 months and it only goes higher as cooler temperatures make their way to KELOLAND.
All tolled, the growing demand is putting a strain on the pantry's resources.
