BackPack Program Coordinator in Rapid City Food Bank

Employment: Full Time

Job Summary

The BackPack Program Coordinator is responsible for all operations of the BackPack Program and volunteer coordination for any on-site programs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and manages all activities for the BackPack Program, including counts, meal planning, food ordering, inventory control, and truck routes.
  • Completes all data and records required to maintain United Way status of the program.
  • Maintains accurate records of all expenses related to the BackPack Program and coordinating with financial systems personnel as needed.
  • Speak at public events or funding request presentations regarding the BackPack Program.
  • Responds to requests for information on starting a BackPack Program.
  • Coordinates all volunteers for any on-site programs.
  • Assists with any administrative office duties including handling incoming calls and receiving guests.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Light work: Light work involves lifting approximately up to 40 pounds at a time with frequent lifting of objects weighing more than 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of walking or standing for certain projects. To be considered capable of performing a full range of light work, you must have the ability to do substantially all of these activities. This job may also require a large amount of sedentary work, involving sitting for long periods of time.

Qualifications:

Bachelor-level degree preferred in social work, public administration, program management, or related education degree with a specific connection to the mission of the organization.

Demonstrated experience in human service, social service, area of direct program implementation and management.  Specific experience in emergency food programs or other non-profit organizational program implementation is preferred.

Driver/Warehouse Associate in Sioux Falls Food Bank

Employment: Full Time 

General Job Summary: The Driver/Warehouse Associate position provides straight-truck driving duties for the food bank. In addition to driving responsibilities, this position will also include general warehouse duties such as forklift operation, inventory control, computer use, and communication with agency representatives.

  • Collects, transports, loads and unloads inventory.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and operational checks on vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintains a safe driving record.
  • Assists the Warehouse Coordinator in all warehouse organization, inventory control, quality assurance and food/non-food rotation standards.
  • Accepts and receipts product donations.
  • Guides agencies through the process of receiving products from the food bank.
  • Maintains and assists with the cleaning schedule of the warehouse.
  • Assists, as directed, with major food drives or volunteer activities.

Job requirements for this position include:

  • Ability to lift approximately 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing 50 pounds.
  • Two years of relevant experience in straight-truck driving and inventory/warehouse operations is required, along with experience with customer service.
  • Clean and safe driving record required.
  • CDL preferred, but not required.
  • Must provide a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) if an interview is requested. The MVR can be obtained at the Department of Public Safety.
